"Coming here keeps me at work and a functioning, healthy person, happy to be alive"-Cindy

"I just want to say thank you for your compassion in your practice and care for your patients. I have been blessed by being referred to your wellness care center. What better time to give "thanks" tis the season. May the lord bless you all!"   -V.B-

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all you did for Ryan and I on Monday. Ryan was very impresses overall. I was surprised how much he talked. You made him feel very comfortable. He is usually very quiet (doesn't even smile). He really likes you. He though Mandy was really nice too.

When we left we barely got out of the front door heading for the car, and he tilted his head back and yelled "God, I wish it was Thursday!" I looked at him and asked, why? He smiled and said "so I can come back. I feel so much better now, I wish I had come sooner!" He talked nonstop all the way home. My ears were tired! Just thought you all would like to know! See you on Thursday!

Thanks, Lorna

“My Story and New Love for Chiropractic”

Imagine having a headache every day for 117 days that would come and go, but always be there every day. I always had at least 1 but on average 3 a day. I tried every over-the-counter medication, and then after a week I went in to Urgent Care. They gave me a shot of Toradol, a strong pain medication and I was feeling so much better for a good 4-5 hours. Then it was back! I made it a couple more days before having to go back in. Then had two CT scans and an MRI they questioned if I had a brain aneurysm but after a painful spinal tap it was determined to be an abnormal or fat artery. I was given some more pain meds and sent home. I was back again in a couple of days this time to the headache clinic only to experience the worst day of my life. I couldn’t even walk into the clinic. I was given more pain meds and they discovered that I had Benign Positional Vertigo (BPV) and was treated by physical therapy for that. I literally felt like I had been hit by a truck! I had two more treatments and a couple days later I was beginning to feel much better. At this time I was still taking the max amount of ibuprofen daily, a preventative migraine medication and Lortabs at night when things seemed to get worse.

I ended up going into the emergency room a couple days later and found out that my spinal fluid was leaking which was giving me a spinal headache. They did a blood patch which involved taking some blood from my hand and injecting it into my spinal cord. Honestly, I don’t remember much of this because I had to be sedated after having a panic attack in the ER when they touched my back. The patch worked and I spent the next 5 days recovering. I was then able to return to school, but still having daily headaches.

When I would call into the clinic I would always end up with more pills to take. In the next two months my life was a rollercoaster. I was brought into the hospital twice to be hydrated and loaded up on pain meds, got BPV again, and my C5 in my spine was out of place. I had several physical therapy treatments and got my own cervical traction machine. This machine was a lifesaver and is my prize possession. It was able to take more control of my headaches, getting rid of them much faster than I ever imagined. I went into the headache clinic again and said that I was feeling very drugged and out of it. I guess anyone would with taking 3 pills in the morning for preventative migraines and one at night, another for panic attacks (which was something new that started whenever I laid down) and 800 mg of ibuprofen at least once a day, there was also a migraine medication I could take if I had a migraine that day. They decided to take me off of my preventative migraine medication at night; this however negatively affected my sleep. But when I called in to tell them this, they gave me a prescription for a sleep medication that made me feel horrible.

That was my last straw, after 4 months of treatment I had gotten no where! I had to try something else. I called and talked to my aunt who has migraines and she was telling me how much chiropractic helps her. Honestly, I was very skeptical, but she had me talk to my cousin who is going to school for chiropractic. She said she thought it would help and figured it was worth a shot. She gave me a number to a great chiropractor and a couple days later I was in. My chiropractor found several problems; all of my muscles were pulling to left, my neck wasn’t supporting my head properly, I have mild scoliosis and one leg was a little bit longer than the other. But all that mattered to me after finding out everything that day was when he said, “I think we will be able to help you”. No one ever said that to me in the past 4 months! For once I had hope. After a couple of adjustments my headaches had disappeared. I have had 7 adjustments in 14 days with only 3 minor headaches that I didn’t need to take any medication for. I am so lucky to have hopefully gotten rid of my headaches and found relief!

I have learned a lot in these past two weeks. First of all, medications are not everything. I am going to school for nursing and could tell you just about everything about each pill I was taking, but didn’t know much about chiropractic care at all. However, now I have a much better understanding and love for chiropractic. I would recommend that before every pill in the world! As I continue my career in the medical field I hope to help bridge the gap between medical care and chiropractic care. If it wasn’t for chiropractic, I would still be living off of pills. Instead I have relief and was given so much hope because of an alternative treatment called chiropractic.

Thank you to all chiropractors and their assistants, you have helped in ways which no other doctors or pill has been able to. I am forever grateful!

"Although I've had the discectomy surgery, the pain in my back and leg is still fairly frequent. I have noticed that the tingling in my last two toes on my left foot has been certainly more infrequent since chiropractic care. I feel that the adjustments have done more for me than any of the doctors, medication, and surgery. I just wish that it would have been suggested by my physician before doing surgery. That should have been a last resort!"

My name is Renee and I am a client at Three Rivers Chiropractic.  I met the Doctors at a Wellness fair and had never used the services of a Chiropractor before.  I have been very fortunate and never had any serious health issues. However, I believe that things come into our lives for a reason.  I normally would not have stopped and talked to the Doctors but this day I did.  I was very intrigued by their scan and decided to make an appointment.

I had several adjustments to improve on some areas that probably would have caused problems in the future, then Dr. Marty talked to me about their wellness program.  After consulting with Britney I decided to give it a try.  I had heard most of the information before, but their approach and support made a difference this time.  The program included the psychological factor of health and wellness that most programs do not address.  Also the assessments that they do gave me feedback on what progress I was actually making.

Wellness is a life philosophy and the encouragement and support that the staff at Three Rivers Chiropractic provides makes the difference.  The information and education that they give out proves that they truly believe in the services and treatment they offer.

I have lost weight, improved my blood pressure and changed some attitudes about what health really means.  I feel stronger both physically and psychologically.  It is obvious to me that all of the staff at the office genuinely cares about the people that walk through the door.  We are treated as more than patients, also the positive, caring attitude that is created in the office can be felt.

Thank you to all of the staff for your encouragement and I look forward to continuing to improve my health and life with your help.

Dr. Chad and Dr. Marty Asks some important questions of interest to Onalaska residents - Chiropractor Onalaska Dr. Chad and Dr. Marty Asks...

What is the purpose of pain?
Pain prompts many Onalaska folks to begin chiropractic care. But pain isn't the problem! Pain is just how your body alerts you that a limit has been reached (or exceeded), that something isn't working right and that some type of change is needed. As a chiropractor, my job is finding the underlying cause and recommending the changes needed to bring your body back into balance.
What happens if you stop chiropractic care when you feel better?
Many Onalaska folks recognize that this predisposes you to a relapse. Chiropractors know that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine don't fully heal until after symptoms subside.
